Delicious and very underappreciated. Mullet roe is the egg sack from the grey mullet. Mullet is bountiful in Louisiana and during the mullet roe season, running from late November to February, we have a great amount of mullet roe in stock. Most of the mullet roe in Louisiana is exported to European and Asian countries but we keep ours in-house and only sell to our customers across the U.S.
Raw mullet roe can be cured and made into bottarga. It can also be smoked and fried.
Sold by the pound; each pound has about 4-7 roe in it.
